Warsaw Goes To 10-0 With Home Win Over Northrop

Warsaw’s Lady Tigers soccer team remained unbeaten with a 3-0 home victory over Fort Wayne Northrop Monday.
Alexandra Koontz scored on a free kick in the 28th minute to open the Warsaw scoring. Anna Reimink scored on an assist from Anna Grill in the 63rd minute, and Grill put the game away with an unassisted goal with two minutes remaining.
The Lady Tigers, who received votes in this week’s Class 2A soccer coaches poll, travel to Columbia City for a match on Thursday.

Monday in Syracuse
Fort Wayne Concordia had a 1-0 lead at halftime, then scored three times in the last 18 minutes of the match to defeat Wawasee 4-0 at Warrior Field.
“We played hard and competed for the entire game,” said Wawasee head coach Doug Heinisch via fax. “We actually competed better in the second half and had much more of an offensive attack in the second half. Our defense just wore out as Concordia controlled the game.”
The Lady Warrior junior varsity squad also lost 4-0.
Next for Wawasee, now 3-6-1, is a trip to DeKalb for a match on Thursday.

Boys Soccer
Monday in North Manchester
Elisiel Guerrero’s goal late in the second half stood as Manchester claimed a 1-0 win over Oak Hill on Monday.
Guerrero’s goal came on a pass from Colin McNeeley, who was credited with an assist. The shutout was the sixth of the season for goalie Levi Hicks and the Squires.
Manchester will take on Three Rivers Conference foe Whitko in South Whitley on Wednesday.

Monday in Albion
Central Noble scored a first-half goal on a penalty kick, and a second goal in the second half on its way to a 2-1 boys soccer win over visiting Whitko.
Wildcat senior Tyler Herendeen gave Whitko hope with a goal in the 77th minute, but the team didn’t get the equalizer. Goalkeeper Devin Goggin was credited with 11 saves in the match.
Whitko will host Manchester in Three Rivers Conference play Wednesday.

Volleyball
Monday in Akron
Tippecanoe Valley had 10 kills each from Abby Betten and Lexi O’Connell in a 25-22, 25-18, 18-25, 25-17 win over Columbia City in a non-conference match.
Shayleigh Shriver had three aces, Betten added 15 digs and Maddy Henninger contributed 15 assists to the winning effort.
The Lady Vikings will travel to Lakeville and take on LaVille this afternoon.

Kaitlyn Reed had 15 kills and a pair of service aces, and Haley Yohe added 21 assists in Whitko’s 25-8, 25-19, 25-20 loss to Rochester on Monday.

Wawasee fell 25-13, 25-12, 25-15 to Westview Monday night at the Hardwood Tepee.
“It was a tough match. Liz Hardy helped keep the team alive with her aggressive play and her positive attitude,” Wawasee interim head coach Ryan Edgar said via fax.
The Wawasee junior varsity team lost its match with Westview 25-14, 25-22.
Wawasee returns to Northern Lakes Conference play Thursday with a trip to Dunlap to take on Concord.

Girls Golf
Monday in Syracuse
Kamryn Foy, Kylee Rostochak and Aubrey Schmeltz each shot 44 to pace Wawasee to a 177-198 win over Manchester at Maxwelton Golf Club Monday afternoon.
Mikala Mawhorter’s 45 and Madison Beaman’s 50 rounded out the Wawasee varsity.
Manchester was led by Kelsey Eichenauer and Madyson Ulrey, who each turned in a 47. Lydia Little and Leiah Brandenburg each carded 52s and Madison Hire a 71 for the Lady Squires.
The match wrapped up regular season play for each squad, and both move on to sectionals on Saturday. Wawasee will play at Stonehenge Golf Club in Warsaw, while Manchester will play at Huntington’s Norwood Golf Club.
