It's kind of becoming old hat at Warsaw now.
The Tigers set the tone early as the girls swimming squad won their second straight sectional with a final score of 357 Saturday at the Warsaw Community High School pool.
Wawasee finished second with a score of 250 while Culver Girls Academy finished third with a final of 225.
Manchester finished sixth with a score of 100 while Tippecanoe Valley finished ninth out of 11 teams with a final count of 42.
Warsaw won the first swimming event of the day when Karli Slater, Katy Taylor, Lindsay Munsch and Alexis Hollar raced past Culver Academy in the 200 medley relay to win with a time of 1:59.09
The Tigers captured first place in the first five events before Plymouth's Liz Hoffer was able to grab a first-place finish in the 100 butterfly.
"It's a nice repeat," said Warsaw head swim coach Terry Aukeman shortly after doing a celebratory cannon ball in the diving pool. "We came out and did a nice job of setting the tone by winning the first five events."
Warsaw used a business-like mentality Saturday, as the celebration was fairly subdued. The Tigers meant business and their goals lie beyond a sectional championship.
"All week we were thinking about sectional," said Aukeman. "But we were also looking ahead to the state meet."
Warsaw's Tracy Thallemer finished first in the 200 and 500 freestyle for the Tigers. Melissa Dick took care of business in the shorter distances with wins in the 50 and 100 freestyle with times of: 25.36 and: 56.56 respectively.
Taylor picked up an individual win in the 200 IM.
In all, Warsaw will be represented in the state finals in 10 events.
One of the easier wins for the Tigers came in diving where Tara Stayer beat Culver Academies' Alana Urness by nearly 40 points with a score of 330.30 to Urness' 291.20
Warsaw won its first-ever girls swim sectional last year and now are poised to dominate for years to come.
The Tigers roster is dominated with underclassmen, as 16 of Warsaw's 20 rostered swimmers will return next year.
It was a young Tiger squad that showed maturity in topping a strong field.
"Warsaw did a really nice job today," said Wawasee head swim coach Roger Karns. "They took charge early and swam a great meet."
Karns' squad failed to pick up a first-place finish but saw several strong performances.
Krista Spearman finished second in the 100 breastroke with a time of 1:11.49. The Warriors' Leigh Froebe finished second in the 200 freestyle with a time of2:04.18 as well as in the 100 butterfly.
Manchester's Susan Hanger finished fourth in the diving with a score of 272.75 while the Squires Courtney Ingold finished fourth in the 500 freestyle.
Tippecanoe Valley failed to place a swimmer or diver in the top six.
The Tigers move on to the state finals at the natatorium on the campus of IUPUI Friday.
