At LaGrange, the Lakeland boys track and field team outscored Wawasee 41-4 in the field events en route to an 82-50 win on Monday.

"We are still searching for the answer in field events," Wawasee coach Kerry Murphy said. "Wawasee picked up only four points, but on the track, the Warriors performed admirably. The Warriors beat the Lakers on the track, but in the field, we dug too deep of a hole to climb out of."

Indeed, the Warriors performed well in the track events, finishing with five first places, six second places and six third places.

Wawasee's 3,200-meter relay team of Ryan Mikel, Rustin Mikel, John Hursh and John Glon placed first. Wawasee's 1,600 relay team of Ryan Mikel, Rustin Mikel, Glon and Chris Lambert also finished first.

First-place winners in individual events included Richard Moore in the 110 high hurdles, Brad Brown in the 400 and Ryan Mikel in the 800.

Out of the five field events, the Warriors cracked the top three places only two times. Adam Brown had both. He placed second in the vault and third in the high jump.
