Warsaw Gets $105,300 From COPS Grant

The city of Warsaw will receive a $105,300 grant that will allow the police department to purchase additional equipment. Warsaw will use the grant to acquire 15 laptop computers to place in their squad cars.

The funding is provided through the COPS MORE program at the U.S. Department of Justice, and helps local communities hire, equip and pay additional police officers.

"We are really thrilled about receiving the grant for the computers in the cars," said Police Chief Craig Allebach. "This will really benefit the community we serve and help to reduce crime. It also will free up more time for officers to do more community policing."

The Warsaw Police Department is already operating four laptop computers. The COPS MORE grant covers 75 percent of program costs, while the local communities are responsible for the remaining 25 percent.
