Fire crews spent more than four hours battling a tire fire behind the Little League diamond at Boggs Industrial Park Thursday evening.
Around 6:15 p.m. Thursday, the Warsaw Fire Department received a call about a fire in a woods behind Kinder Manufacturing in the 600 block of Leiter Drive.
Crews arrived to find a pile of old tires ablaze in the wooded area.
Since tire fires produce hazardous material, the Warsaw Fire Department called the Kosciusko County Health Department, which monitored air quality to ensure the safety of surrounding residents. The health department also made sure the water running off the fire did not pose a threat to residents' water supplies.
Smoke did not become a threat to residents, and no evacuation was necessary.
At this time, the owner of the property has not been determined.
No one was injured in the fire, which remains under investigation.
The Warsaw Police Department was assisted by the Winona Lake Fire Department and the Kosciusko County Health Department at the scene of the fire.
