Warsaw Elks Club is making sure those who cannot afford a Thanksgiving dinner will not go hungry.
Elks Club members and volunteers will serve a free Thanksgiving dinner Thursday to the community.
The dinner will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Center Lake Pavilion, 119 E. Canal St.
The menu includes turkey, ham, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes and gravy, dinner rolls, green bean casserole, pie, coffee and orange drink.
Carry-out and deliveries will be available. Tables also will be set up at Center Lake Pavilion for people to have a place to sit and eat.
The dinner was started 28 years ago by Ray Compton, former owner of Compton's Furniture.
After he moved away, Mike and Alice Schooley took over and assisted with the dinner efforts. Alice serves as president of the Kosciusko County Home Ec Club. The organization will donate pies for the dinner.
The turkeys are from a turkey distributor in Michigan.
Dan Brumfield, event co-chairman, said there were 600 people served last year.
"With how the economy is, we expect there to be an even larger turnout this year," Brumfield said.
Those who want to have meals delivered should call the Elks Club during the week from 3 to 8 p.m. at 574-267-7802.
