The Warsaw Education Foundation recently awarded over $7,800 in Red Apple Grant funds to 12 Warsaw Community Schools educators representing six different schools.
Their students are becoming expert mathematicians, gaining engineering skills, practicing Yoga and using drones to design processes for real-world situations, according to a news release from WEF.
Red Apple Grants are awarded to teachers for classroom materials as well as schoolwide projects that advance enrichment opportunities, support innovative and inventive teaching and promote academic exploration. The Foundation has awarded over $330,000 in Red Apple Grant funding to date.
Red Apple Grants awarded were:
• Abbi Richcreek and Justin Weaver, Edgewood and Lakeview Middle Schools, Drone It – $1,499.32
• Heidi Class, Mariah Lewis and Lindsey Wallen, Leesburg Elementary, Providing Opportunities for Differentiated Learners in the Kindergarten Classroom – $1,466.87
• Diane Scott, Lincoln Elementary, Teaching STEM Skills through Play, Teamwork and Project Based Learning – $1,495.20
• Shelby Beam, Leah Kilgore, Carla Milliman and Hannah Weaver, Lincoln Elementary, Kindergarten Mathematicians Make Ten – $1,437.67
• Jacob Crone, Lincoln, Madison Elementary, Elementary Yoga Equipment and DVDs – $601.47
• Jon Scroggs, Warsaw Area Career Center, Peddle Power: Engaging in Engineering Design Process – $1,310.
