Warsaw Crossing Preliminary Plat Approved By Plan Commission

Posted

The Warsaw Plan Commission granted preliminary plat approval for a five-lot commercial subdivision along Ind. 15 Monday.

The proposed Warsaw Crossing, on the southwest corner of Sheldon Street and Ind. 15, is currently on vacant ground that is receiving sewer and water access from the city.

Though traffic matters on Ind. 15 weren't discussed during the meeting, Commission President Joe Thallemer said activity for the new commercial development will be exiting and entering off of Sheldon Street and will not use Ind. 15 directly.

Before any construction is to begin on the property, businesses must file a developmental plan with the commission for approval.

A vote for a final plat agreement for Warsaw Crossing will be addressed by the Plan Commission at a later date.

Also discussed during Monday's meeting was the recent acquisition of property on the corner of Detroit and Center streets by Northeast Indiana Bancorp Inc.

Before the company begins construction of its new facility, commission members hoped to review site plans with the organization.

"As a citizen, I'd like to have as many eyes on this as possible," member Alan Clingan said. "This is a matter of: Let's do this once and do it right."

With Detroit and Center streets both being major thoroughfares for Warsaw, the commission hopes the new building will coincide aesthetically with the majority of downtown structures. All members supported the idea to begin communication with the company.

Members are Thallemer, Clingan, Tammy Dalton, Jim Gast, Lacy Francis and Rick Keeven. Vice President Jeff Grose was absent.
