Warsaw will be represented on the city council by four new members, three returning members, and a returning clerk-treasurer and new mayor.
The new council members are Elaine Call, Cindy Dobbins, Mike Klondaris, and Jerry Frush. The returning council members are Charlie Smith, Diane Quance, and Jeff Grose.
Incumbent Lynne Christiansen, who ran unopposed for the Warsaw clerk-treasurer seat, said she is looking forward to continuing to serve the city.
She has served as the city’s clerk-treasurer where she was selected during a caucus in March 2010.
“I would like to thank everyone who took the time to vote in this election,” Christiansen said.
She said she looks forward to working with the new administration and tackling the tasks that lay ahead.
Call and Dobbins won the at-large city council seats. They defeated Libertarian Dan Stevens. The at-large seats are currently held by Joe Thallemer and Kyle Babcock.
Call previously served as the city’s clerk-treasurer for 26 years and currently works in the office of the Wayne Township Trustee.
“I am very excited and really proud of our city and all the officials I have worked with in the past and am looking forward to working with the new officials as well,” Call said.
Dobbins, who currently is the Warsaw Community Development Corp. director, said she is looking forward to serving.
She said she is grateful to the voters for giving her the opportunity to represent them.
“I intend to do my homework on the issues that come before the council so that I can make the appropriate decisions,” Dobbins said.
“I am eager to work with the rest of the council and other elected officials to move Warsaw forward over the next four years.”
She thanked everyone who took the time to vote.
Klondaris was elected to the third district seat. He was unopposed, and will replace George Clemens.
“I’m really pleased to win and am looking forward to the task at hand,” Klondaris said.
He said he thinks newly-elected council members will bring fresh ideas to the council.
Independent candidate Jerry Frush was elected to the District 4 seat. Frush replaces Jerry Patterson who did not seek re-election. Frush defeated Mary Ellen Rudisel-Jordan.
“Thank you to everyone who voted for me,” Frush said.
“I am happy to be your councilman and will try to represent our district and the city of Warsaw to the very best of my ability.”
Quance said she is honored to continue to represent the people in the 5th District.
She said she hopes to hear from residents about their concerns.
“I have been able to assist several neighbors in getting issues resolved,” Quance said.
She said she encourages residents to check the city of Warsaw website, www.warsaw.in.gov, for agenda items coming before the council or the various committees and let her know if they have a concern.
Incumbent District 1 Warsaw City Councilman Jeff Grose said he is looking forward to continuing to serve.
“I really appreciate the continued support and trust from the citizens of District One,” Grose said.
“I enjoy serving on the common council and I look forward to working with all of the new members next term.”
Incumbent District 2 councilman Charlie Smith was re-elected.
“I’m proud and happy to serve the second district and all the tax paying citizens of our Warsaw community for my fourth term as a city council member,” Smith said.
“I pledge to work with our council and Mayor Thallemer to make decisions in the best interest of our citizens.”
