Several 2004 annual department reports were reviewed by the Warsaw City Council Tuesday.

Kosciusko County Special Operations Team - Drug Task Force showed 222 cases made last year, with 665 originating in Warsaw and 157 outside Warsaw. There were 157 physical arrests and 12 search warrants served. The document also showed eight drug-related deaths, according to the county coroner.

Of the cases, there were 47 related to methamphetamine, 20 methamphetamine "labs," 28 related to cocaine, 62 related to marijuana and five for prescription drugs. "Other" cases totaled 60.

Oakwood Cemetery report indicated a total of 230 burials for 2004. That figure is the highest of the last five years: 202 in 2003, 199 in 2002, 212 in 2001 and 209 in 2000. By gender, 131 males and 99 females were buried. There were 76 city residents and 154 nonresidents.

The top three busiest months were December, with 28 burials, 27 in August and 23 in March. By age group, there were 20 burials for infant to 10-year-olds; 214 for ages 11 through 40; 11 for ages 41 to 50; 19 for ages 51 to 60; 24 for ages 61 to 70; 58 for ages 71 to 80; 64 for ages 81 to 90 and 20 for ages 91 to 100.

A half-year report, beginning July 1, from the victims' assistance office showed 64 individuals served: 39 for domestic violence; 13 for sexual assault; three each for child physical abuse, child sexual abuse and adults molested as children; two each for stalking and "other assault"; and one for driving-while-intoxicated crashes.

Mayor Ernie Wiggins said he and city planner Jeremy Skinner are working on a policy allowing property owners who live outside the city limits to receive sewage services.

Wiggins said a set amount could be charged instead of an in-lieu-of-annexation agreement where the property owner pays the city 50 percent of their property taxes.
