Warsaw Christian Students Take Part In District Speech Meet

On April 12, Warsaw Christian School sent 38 students to District Speech Meet. The event, held annually in the spring and sponsored by the Association of Christian Schools International, of Colorado Springs, Colo., was hosted this year by Kingsway Christian School in Avon. Students participated and memorized speeches in the categories of scripture memory, fable and folklore, patriotic oration, Bible prose, poetry and original speech. First-place blue ribbons were awarded to sixth-graders Anderson Wonderly, Alex Maurer, Anna Reimink, Madelyn Paris, Abigail Fishel, Carlie Wise, Lauren Starrett and Carly O’Hara. In fifth grade, blue ribbons were awarded to Joel Groninger, Sarah Juillerat, Zach Leedy, Parker Stewart, Landon Paris, Sam Turner, Kendall Stevens, Josh Fisher and Tali Stichter. Fourth-graders receiving blue ribbons were Daniel Zogbi, Joy Hanes, Jack Mayer and Michaela Arford. A first-place ribbon also went to third-grader Brooklyn Apted. Finally, Caity Rose Wilson, Maddie Silveus, Katie McKibbin, Finley Hobbs, Laura Arford, in second-grade, received a blue ribbon, and so also did Caleb Smith, Valeria Diaz and Adrian Bowdler in first grade. Second-place ribbons were awarded to sixth-grader Rachel Juillerat, fifth-grader Matthew Helton and fourth-graders Lia Stichter and Rachel Dempsey. In third grade, recipients were Cameron Fairchild and Tauri Hoover. Mya Wobrock, second-grader, and Jett Woods, first grade, also received second-place ribbons. Participation in the spring speech meet is a tradition at Warsaw Christian School. All students in first through sixth grade are required to participate in the local school contest, and from there, students are selected to participate in the District Speech Meet. Selected students begin preparing their speeches in the fall and work to present them in the spring at the contest.
