On Jan. 16, Warsaw Christian School held its annual spelling bee among the fifth- and sixth-grade students.
After a grueling exercise of a myriad of difficult words, a champion emerged.
Zachary Stichter, of Amy Miller's sixth-grade class, was able to top them all after five rounds of correct spelling.
Just behind Stichter, as this year's runnerup, was sixth-grader Hannah McCarty, who was last year's champion.
Stichter will go on to the county spelling bee Feb. 4 to compete again.
