Warsaw Boys Primed For Seventh-Straight Swim Sectional Title

Posted
Taking the top seed in nine of the 11 events for Saturday’s boys swimming sectional finals, the Warsaw Tigers appear primed to recorded it’s seventh-straight title.
Winners of 14 overall sectional championships, the host Tigers will have the top seed in each of the three relays, as well as 20 other swimmers competing in the championship heat of finals.
During Thursday’s prelims, the top eight qualifiers advanced to Saturday’s championship heat, while 9-16 will take part in the consolation heats.
From Warsaw, its 200 medley relay (Josh Cardin, Mac Pelo, Zach Taylor, Matt Wildman), 200 free relay (Wildman, J.D. French, Pelo, Hudson Snyder) and 400 free relay (Josh Miller, French, Matt Hastings, Ethan Cook) each finished first in the prelims.
Individually, juniors Spencer Davidson and Jayden Parrett will be the top seed in events they’ve won the past two seasons.
Parrett will look for his third-straight sectional title in the 100 back and Davidson will look for a three-peat in the 100 breast, with each earning the top seed.
Parrett will also be the top seed in the 100 free.
Another Tiger looking for a repeat is sophomore Zach Taylor, as he earned the No. 1 seed in the 200 IM, an event he went to state in last year.
Taylor will also be the top seed in the 500 free, with Warsaw’s other No. 1 seeds being Cook in the 200 free.
Along with earning top seeds, the Tigers will also have three swimmers in the championship heat of the 200 free, 200 IM, 500 free, 100 back and 100 breast.
Also from the area, Manchester will be represented in the championship heat of four events and Tippecanoe Valley will be in two.
Diving prelims begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, with swimming finals getting started at 1 p.m.
Winners from Saturday’s finals advance to the state meet.
