Warsaw Boys Finish Third At State Meet

MARION — The Warsaw, Wawasee, Whitko and Manchester track and field teams had participants compete in Saturday's Hoosier State Relays State Meet at Indiana Wesleyan University.
Following three Hoosier State Relays qualifying meets, the finalists took part in the indoor meet in Marion, split up in two categories – large school (5A-4A) and small school (3A-1A).
Competing in the large school division, the Warsaw boys finished third, thanks to a strong showing in the 3200-meter run.
In the distance event, Warsaw junior Ellis Coon finished first in 9:19.40, followed by senior teammates Jacob Poyner (9:19.55) and Robert Murphy (9:21.79), in second and third, respectively.
The Warsaw girls finished 22nd at the meet, with their only six points coming from the 1600 relay, which finished sixth.
The Lady Tigers were without senior Ashley Erba, who had her 3200 record time of 10:47.34 broken by Mishawaka sophomore Anna Rohrer, who won the event in 10:33.18.
In the small-school division, Whitko's Connor Stouder scored all eight of his team's points by finishing second in the 55-meter dash in a time of 6.64 seconds.
