Warsaw Airport Board Updated On Projects

Posted

The Board of Aviation Commissioners was updated Tuesday on some projects going on at the Warsaw Municipal Airport.
Airport Manager Nick King said all the grant closeout documentation for the power lines lowering project at the airport has been submitted to the Federal Aviation Administration.
“We are waiting for their final review and then that project will finally officially be over,” he said.
May will be exactly 40 years since the first time the airport has contacted the FAA about the power line project.
On the wildlife hazard site visit that was done, the airport did see comments from the FAA last week. CHA, the airport’s engineering firm, has already turned that information around and will have that information returned to the FAA Friday. King said they hope to have the grant associated with the wildlife hazard site closed out in the next couple months.
King said he received the grant closeout documents for the taxilane E-1 project Monday. The airport submitted those documents to the state.
Construction on taxiway B is anticipated to start in June. King said Phend & Brown has been awarded work at several airports in the area and will require some coordination to figure where the airplanes at each airport are being moved to. There are things in place for Warsaw to house most of Goshen’s jet aircraft during their construction time.
In other business, the board:
• Opened bids for a new truck at the airport. The net bid from Kerlin Ford, Silver Lake, was $23,969.68; the net bid from City Ford, Columbia City, was $18,568; Model 1 Ford of Warsaw was non responsive.
King said the bids will be taken under advisement and a recommendation will be made to the board.
• Approved a CHA invoice for the taxilane E-1 project for $6,954.25.
• Approved an invoice from CHA for the runway 927 project for $2,960.30.
