MIDDLEBURY — Playing a Northern Lakes Conference game in Middlebury Saturday night, the Wawasee boys basketball team lost 64-60 to the hosting Northridge Raiders.
Wawasee junior Ryndan Aaron led all scorers with 23 points, making 7 of 10 three-pointes, while senior teammate Jake Clark scored 16 and senior Zac Patrick chipped in eight.
In the win, Northridge’s Gavin Blyly and Nate Ritchie each scored 17 points, with Joey Ganyard netting 10, as the Raiders improved to 8-7 overall and 2-4 in NLC play.
For Wawasee, the loss was its fourth in five games, falling to 9-7 overall and 0-5 in the conference.
The Warriors will get another shot at a conference win Thursday at home against Goshen.
Saturday in Peru Returning to the school he coached just last season, and nine years overall, Eric Thompson’s Manchester boys basketball team fell 60-48 Saturday night. In defeat, Connor McLaughlin scored 19 for the Squires, who also got 12 points from Logan Brunn. The 3-12 Squires travel to Caston Thursday. GYMNASTICS Saturday in Ligonier The Warsaw Lady Tigers finished eighth and the Wawasee Lady Warriors were ninth at Saturday’s Lakeland Gymnastics Invitational. DeKalb won the tournament with a score of 107.65, followed by Carroll and Angola, rounding out the top three. Individually, Angola’s Alex Nickel had the top all-around score, tallying 38.1, while Warsaw’s Abbi Baum was eighth (32.2) and Wawasee was led by Emily Allen’s 13th-place finish (31.75). Warsaw and Wawasee are both in action Thursday, as the Lady Tigers travel to Plymouth and the Lady Warriors host Elkhart Central.
