Warriors Have Disappointing Time At State

Posted

INDIANAPOLIS - The Wawasee girls' swim team came into the state meet with high expectations, but found out just how fast the field is as no Warrior swimmers advanced into today's finals.

"Obviously we were hoping to move some people into the finals," Wawasee coach Roger Karns said. "I was hoping for better. I was hoping they'd get the swims they wanted to get."

The best chance of advancing came in the 200 freestyle relay, but even a school-record time wasn't good enough to advance. The Warriors finished with a time of 1:42.92, but it was good enough for only 20th place.

Other finishes for the Warriors include the 200 medley relay team finishing 22nd; Kristine Shivers getting 31st place in the 50 freestyle with a time of :26.02; Jenny Marty finishing in 24th in the 100 butterfly with 1:01.84; Laura Lundin finishing 28th in the 100 butterfly with a :55.92 and Tiffany Miller finishing 31st in the 500 freestyle with a 5:50.35.

Manchester's Heidi Yoder finished in 19th place in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:00.99 and 25th in the 200 IM with a time of 2:15.89.
