Warriors Can't Keep Up With Minutemen; Valley Falls To 0-4

DUNLAP — The Wawasee football team hung at Class 5A No. 2 Concord for a half, but couldn’t keep up, losing 44-21. Getting a touchdown pass from Gage Reinhard to Sam Clark and a rushing TD from Nathan Katzer, Wawasee trailed Concord 17-13 going into the half. From there, Concord reeled off 21-straight points before Reinhard ran for a 1-yard TD with 8:40 remaining in the game, but by then, the Minutemen were already on their way to victory. Dropping to 2-2 overall and 0-2 in the Northern Lakes Conference, Wawasee was led by Reinhard’s passing game, as he complete 10 of 17 attempts for 173 yards, including the 33-yard TD strike to Clark. In total, Clark caught three balls for 80, followed by Clayton Cook’s four catches for 55 yards and Mylon Betts’ three for 38 yards. On the ground, Nathan Katzer ran for 72 yards and a score on 17 attempts for the Warriors. The loss leaves Wawasee in a hole in the conference, as Concord is now 3-0, while Plymouth is 2-0.. For the first time in its 39-year history, the Tippecanoe Valley football team is off to an 0-4 start, suffering a 58-29 loss at Southwood Friday night. Tippecanoe Valley now sits at 0-2 in the TRC, while Southwood moves to 1-1, 3-1 overall. Valley will look to get into the win column this Friday at home against Northfield (3-1, 1-1 TRC), which is coming off a 26-0 home loss against Rocheser.
