The Wawasee swimming team represented itself well in the IHSAA boys' swimming preliminaries at the IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis Friday evening.
Wawasee placed senior Marcelo Azenha in the 200 freestyle finals, plus its 200 medley and 400 free relays also advanced to the championship round. Azenha is also in the consolation round of the 100 free. Senior Ryan Harper qualified for the consolation round in the 100 backstroke.
Azenha's time of 1:42.21 in the 200 freestyle set a new school record.
Finals in all events are slated for today, starting at 9:30 a.m.
