Warrior Swimmers Sweep Huntington

SYRACUSE - The Wawasee Warrior swim teams hosted and whipped Huntington North on Thursday.

The Wawasee girls, 5-1, won 141.5-43.5. They placed first in every event except one.

Individuals winning events for the Warriors included Kristine Shivers (200 freestyle), Laura Lundin (200 individual medley), Jenny Marty (50 freestyle), Lindsey Kaiser (diving), Theresa Lundin (100 freestyle), Kassie Biddle (500 freestyle), Stacy Naugler (100 backstroke) and Jennifer Ganshorn (100 breaststroke).

The Warrior 200 medley, 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle teams also placed first.

The Wawasee boys, 3-0, also placed first in every event except one en route to a 137-48 win.

Ryan Moore (200/100 freestyles), Marcelo Azenha (200 individual medley, 100 butterfly), Ryan Harper (50 freestyle, 100 backstroke), Andrew Thornburg (500 freestyle) and Adam Brown (100 breaststroke) each placed first.

Wawasee swept the relays, winning the 200 medley, 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relays.

The Wawasee girls host the Wawasee Invitational at noon Saturday.

The Wawasee boys host NorthWood at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday.

The Triton Trojan freshman girls' basketball team held Jimtown scoreless in the third quarter en route to an 18-point win on Thursday.

Lissa Bradley scored eight and Emily Yankovich six for Triton.

At Syracuse, the Wawasee Warrior freshman girls' basketball team recorded its first win of the season on Thursday.

Mandy Perzanowski led the Warriors with 12 points, and Lauren Stucky had 10. Vicki Hunzicker and Candace Beer added eight each.

Wawasee, 1-3, hosts Tippecanoe Valley on Tuesday.

Valley Goes 0-3 In Invite

At Mentone, the Tippecanoe Valley wrestling team went 0-3 in its Tuesday invitational.

Southwood beat Valley 56-24; Whitko beat Valley 52-21; and Manchester beat Valley 36-27.

Freshman Russell Rhamey (140 pounds) was the lone Viking who recorded a 3-0 record.
