After being acquitted on 20 of 26 charges during a jury trial last month, Bill E. Warren was sentenced to 13 years in prison Thursday. A jury found Warren, 35, North Manchester, guilty of battery and intimidation, both Class C felonies, as well as Class D felony theft, obstruction of justice, resisting law enforcement and sexual battery after more than six hours of deliberation Nov. 17 at the end of a multi-day trial. He was acquitted on charges including strangulation and criminal confinement, and altogether was facing a potential sentence of more than 400 years. Warren received the felony counts after being charged with abducting a woman and her daughter and sexually assaulting the woman in late August 2010. Kosciusko County Superior Court I Judge Duane Huffer, who presided over the jury trial, pronounced sentence Thursday morning. Huffer also suspended more than one year of the sentence and gave credit for time served.
