Wanted Man Arrested By SWAT TeamThe SWAT Team had to be used Sunday to arrest a man who was wanted to answer to felony stalking charges.
According to Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Sgt. Chris Francis, at 11:26 a.m. Sunday, a law enforcement officer observed a person matching the description of Scotty Van Hawk inside a passenger vehicle on Ind. 15.
Van Hawk, 49, of Warsaw, was the suspect of multiple criminal investigations and had an active arrest warrant.
The vehicle then traveled to the area of Van Hawk’s residence near the intersection of CR 350N and CR 100E. A traffic stop was initiated, and Van Hawk fled on foot to his property, Francis said.
Multiple agencies and K9 units responded to the scene and established a perimeter.
Deputies attempted to contact Van Hawk, who failed to comply following repeated commands.
A search warrant was obtained and the KCSO Special Operations Group (SOG), formerly known as SWAT, was activated. Van Hawk was subsequently found inside his home and taken into custody without further incident at 3:39 p.m.
Van Hawk is incarcerated at the Kosciusko County Jail and facing Level 5 felony stalking charges, seven invasion of privacy charges, two intimidation charges and a resisting law enforcement charge. He has a bond set at $26,250.
According to court papers, Van Hawk’s wife filed for divorce and received protective orders against Van Hawk.
Van Hawk is accused of harassing her through phone calls, text messages, the mail, creating a website devoted to trashing her online and even forming a business that registers to an empty lot in Culver to attempt to sue her.
He further tried to scare the woman by showing her an involuntary commitment paper, threatening he was going to file it to have her hospitalized to be evaluated.
