Walter Way Fire Kills OneFew details are being released about a fire that claimed the life of a Warsaw resident early this morning.
Around 3:24 a.m. today, firefighters from the Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory responded to a call about an apartment fire at 653 Walter Way, and soon learned that there were people trapped inside.
When fire crews arrived at 3:29 a.m., they saw fire coming from two apartments and through the roof of one of the apartment buildings.
Firefighters began search-and-rescue efforts and called for help from the Leesburg and Winona Lake fire departments.
One woman was found dead shortly after fire crews entered the apartment. Information regarding the name and age of the victim were not available this morning.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory.
