Presley Walters was the image of toddlerhood - able to go on stage by herself, waving to the crowd on cue, dressed in a red, white and blue summer suit. The trouble came when last year's toddler placed Presley's crown on her head and the tiara's side combs pulled delicate 2-year-old hairs. She wasn't having any more of that business, and the daughter of Jeremy and Courtney Walters, Leesburg, kept her little hands to her head to prevent the miserable tiara from being reset.
Presley was named Kosciusko County Toddler during the contest held in the activity tent Tuesday evening.
The two-year-old toddlers are often accompanied by a parent, asked casual questions by master of ceremonies Brian Walsh, wave at the audience and, if they're so inclined, blow a kiss or two.
Named first runner up Miss Toddler was Katelin Ksiezopolski, daughter of Ed and Bonnie Ksiezopolski, Claypool. Second runner-up was Chloe Hoskins, daughter of Matt and Leah Hoskins, Warsaw.
Mr. Toddler Kosciusko County was Tage Allen, son of Mark and Missy Allen, Warsaw. He and his court were given baseball caps. All the children were presented with trophies.
Garret Fieldman, son of Jeff and Bobbi Fieldman, Claypool, was first runner-up and Logan Parker, son of John and Kelly Parker, Silver Lake, was second runner-up.
Six boys participated in the contest compared to 21 girls.
