Walter E. Linn, 79, died at 2:55 a.m. Dec. 28, 2010, in Grace Village Healthcare, Winona Lake.

He was born Aug. 4, 1931, in Winamac, to Williston and Gladys Stanfield Linn. On Dec. 3, 1955, in Germany, he married Heidi Knauss, who survives.

He entered the U.S. Army on March 23, 1954 and SP4 Linn was honorably discharged March 31, 1962. Living most of his life in the Warsaw area, he was an engineer for North Manchester Foundry for 12 years, retiring in 1995. He earned a degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University. He was a former member of the Kiwanis Club, Warsaw, and a member of Lakeland Grace Brethren Church, Warsaw. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, hiking and tinkering with photography.

Also surviving are three daughters: Helga (and spouse Glenn) Tess, Warsaw; Sharon Linn, South Bend; and Heidi (and spouse Mark) Jamesen, Grand Rapids, Mich. He was preceded in death by three sisters, three brothers and a granddaughter.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, with officiating by Pastor Russ Simpson of Lakeland Grace Brethren Church, Warsaw. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

Calling is from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
