We've all suffered in the recent uproar over Miss California, Carrie Prejean's, spontaneous and non eloquent response to the gay marriage question posed by blogger and highly unqualified beauty contest judge Perez Hilton.
Not that this is the most important thing I have to wrap my mind around these days but I find it irritating and typical of the desperate wallowing in abject negativity the Republican right has found itself mired in as of late.
It was a stupid question to ask at a beauty pageant. Typical of a militant gay person to use that venue to further their agenda. Essentially you wind up with beauty queen versus drag queen, the stuff tabloids drool over.
Now Fox News in another desperate attempt to remain significant as the network shill for old fashioned (stone age) conservative values has decided to bring her onto Fox and "Friends." This after after weeks of continuously airing clips of her bouncing around the stage half naked, attracting the attention of every conservative red-blooded Fox watching male, then turning the conversation around to how disgraceful the concept of gay marriage is, while the blood flows from the brain to the nether regions.
What is disgraceful is parading half-naked women around a stage like so much meat and then trying to justify it by throwing in the talent, evening gown and interview catagories to offset the carnal nature of the event.
Gay marriage is unequivocally one of the most unimportant issues facing America today.
Instead of capitalizing on Carrie Prejean's new found career as the anti-gay marriage spokeperson, why doesn't Fox News and the religious right get behind something like the prevention of child abuse or neglect, to protect all the un-aborted fetuses plopped out by meth sucking hillbilly mothers living on welfare in trailer courts all around the country.
