Walk to Fund Increased Need for Food

Posted
The CROP Hunger Walk is Sept. 25 at Center Lake Pavilion.

The walk is at 1:30 p.m.

The North Central Indiana Foodbank, Combined Community Services and The Salvation Army all report dramatic increases in the request for food.

Over their service area, including Kosciusko County, the Foodbank notes that pantries have seen a 57 percent increase in the numbers of food orders given in the past year.

Many are choosing between rent, utilities and medication verses buying food. The dependency on pantries is increasing in the area.

Monies collected by walkers for the CROP Hunger Walk 2011 will go to Church World Service.

There will be 75 percent  given for world hunger issues, and 25 percent will be divided between CCS and The Salvation Army in cooperation with the North Central Indiana Foodbank to help stock the shelves in their pantries.

For those who choose not to walk, but would like to give, checks can be made payable to Church World Service c/o GWMA, P.O. Box 1797, Warsaw, IN  46581-1797.

Packets are still available for churches and organizations by calling 574-268-7697 or email cropwalk.kos@gmail.com
