Wagon Wheel Theatre Partners With CASA For Valentine's Fundraiser

Staff Report-
The common denominator for every Valentine’s Day is the heart, according to a press release from the Wagon Wheel Theatre. Nothing pulls at our heartstrings as much as abused and neglected children. “Thankfully, our local CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) represents such children in our community,” the release states. On Feb. 15 The Wagon Wheel Theatre and CASA will present a murder mystery titled “My Fatal Valentine.” Proceeds from this fundraising event will go to CASA and to the Wagon Wheel Theatre community programs. And while the matchmaking of local non-profits may not have the “celebrity couple” buzz of say Brad and Angelina or Beyoncé and Jay-Z, the hope is that the positive memory of the night will last longer than said relationships. “We are planning a fun night of silliness with this murder mystery to support a very worthwhile cause,” said Will Dawson, Wagon Wheel Theatre director of operations. “We take entertainment seriously, but we also understand that at the end of the day there are bigger issues happening globally, nationally, and here in Kosciusko County. We recognize how vital CASA’s role is in this community and as a fellow not-for-profit, we want to give back.” “By attending this fun, light-hearted who-dunnit theatrical experience, the community can help support the needs of children in our community," Jill Serbousek, president, CASA of Kosciusko County board of directors. “It’s a great example of how two local non-profits can work together to make a positive impact.” The show takes place at The Wagon Wheel Theatre Feb. 15 at 7 p.m. The ticket price is $35 and the cost includes desserts and a cash bar. Dress as your favorite 1980’s romance character for a chance to win tickets to one of the Wagon Wheel Theatre’s upcoming summer shows. The event takes place at an awards ceremony (the Loveknot Awards), sponsored by Heartthrob Books and Fans of Romance Novels being held in WARSAW. Five novelists are finalists for the Loveknot Award. Local celebrities will read excerpts from their masterpieces. In addition, the audience will enjoy the ’80s entertainment sprinkled throughout the show. The audience is involved in the interrogation of suspects and ultimately vote for who they think “done it.” All proceeds benefit the Wagon Wheel Theatre and all of its youth and community programs and CASA.
