In order to kick off Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts’ 60th season, the performing arts center will host a new kind of fundraiser, according to a press release from the center. On May 18, community members and lovers of the arts are invited to attend a red carpet reception and variety show that will celebrate all of the talent WWCA has to offer. The party kicks off at 6 p.m. with the red carpet reception that includes wine, beer, light hors d’oeuvres and musical entertainment from Symphony of the Lakes. The variety show begins at 7:30 p.m., including performances from Wagon Wheel Jr. members, Center Street Community Theatre and guest appearances from past WWCA actors such as Kira Lace Hawkins, Ben Dicke, Andy Robinson and David Schlumpf. Both the reception and the variety show will take place at Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts. In addition to the show, there will be numerous silent and live auction items available like a “Little Mermaid”-themed birthday party or a wine and canvas night. Tickets to the red carpet reception are $75 and include admission to the show. Tickets just for admission to the variety performance are $25. All proceeds go toward funding Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts and the multiple programs it houses. Call 574-267-8041 or visit wagonwheelcenter.org to purchase tickets.
