Warsaw Area Career Center is the recipient of a $500 grant thanks to the creativity of two students in Abbi Richcreek’s class.
Wednesday, Indiana Data Center announced the 2012 YouTube grant contest winners. With their video titled “Virus Attack,” students winning the competition were Devin Rupprecht and Jacob Hills.
After watching all the videos Richcreek’s students created, the students were presented with a giant check for $500 to be used for the school.
All students who participated, including other teams from WACC and Pike Central High School, received appreciation gifts.
According to a press release provided, Indiana Data Center invited kindergarten to 12th-grade students throughout Indiana to participate in a challenge to create their own videos. This was the first video contest held with plans to make it an annual event.
Entries were judged on overall creativity, strength and originality of content; concept of disaster recovery grasped and emphasized; and mention of Indiana Data Center for Disaster Recovery Services.
Students were asked to produce a short 90-second or less video illustrating the criteria.
During the presentation to the WACC students, Indiana Data Center CEO Stan Adams said, “We’ve got a lot of talent here. Even some actors. I really appreciate all your involvement here. It’s the first we’ve tried this. It’s interesting to see where we were with all the projects.”
He also presented Richcreek with a plaque for all of her assistance.
