Wabash Couple Face Charges After Work Release ‘Escape’A Wabash woman and man are facing charges after the Wabash woman left the Kosciusko County Work Release Center Saturday without permission and the man allegedly helped her in her escape.
At approximately 1 p.m. Saturday, the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office received information from the Kosciusko County Work Release Center about an inmate leaving the facility.
Work Release staff reported Samantha M. Jackson, 31, Wabash, had left the facility without permission and could not be located, according to a news release provided by KCSO Chief Deputy Shane Bucher. The Work Release staff received information that Michael L. Greenfield, 38, Wabash, had traveled from Wabash to get Jackson with the description of the vehicle that he was driving.
Within the hour, deputy Elizabeth Johnson located the vehicle in the area of Fisher Avenue and Ranch Road. The driver of the suspect vehicle made two traffic violations, and Johnson attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The car finally stopped on Ind. 15 and CR 350S.
Greenfield was taken into custody, but Jackson attempted to flee on foot from the traffic stop, the release states. As she was trying to climb over a fence, Johnson was able to take her into custody.
Jackson was serving a sentence for possession of methamphetamine and was sentenced to one year in the Kosciusko County Work Release. Jackson and Greenwood are incarcerated in the Kosciusko County Jail.
From Saturday’s incident, Jackson faces new charges of escape, a Level 5 felony; resisting law enforcement, a Level 6 felony; and driving while suspended with a prior, a Class A misdemeanor.
Greenfield faces a charge of aiding and/or inducing escape, a Level 5 felony.
