Kosciusko County residents can hit the polls before the May 8 primary including two Saturdays.
The Kosciusko County Justice Building, 121 N. Lake St., Warsaw, is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday for early absentee voting until May 7.
Voting is open during lunch as well.
Those interested in casting their ballot early can do so in the basement of the justice building.
Indiana is an open primary, meaning voters can vote in either the Democratic or Republican primary regardless of their party affiliation.
There are several contested local elections including Kosciusko County Council at-large where incumbents Tom Anglin, Bob Sanders and Larry E. Teghtmeyer are going against Jon Fussle, Robert Beer and Sean Boylan in the Republican primary.
In the Democratic primary, Josh Bartman and Lee Ann Brown are running for county council at-large.
The circuit court judges race is also contested with Stephen P. Harris taking on Michael W. Reed. No Democrat has filed for that judge’s seat.
Jon D. Hare is taking on incumbent Rebecca Kubacki in the Republican primary district 22 state representative race. John Bonitati is running unopposed on the Democratic side.
Greg Andrews and Jackie Walorski are vying for the Republican nomination for U.S. Representative District 2. Dan Morrison and Brendan Mullen face off for the Democrats.
And perhaps the biggest race in Indiana since former Sen. Rick Santorum dropped out of the presidential race is long-time incumbent U.S. Senator Richard Lugar taking on Richard E. Mourdock for the Republican nomination. The winner will face Democrat Joe Donnelly in the general election.
Those showing up to vote should bring a photo ID like a driver’s license or passport.
Early voting can also be done on two Saturdays leading up to the primary.
On April 28 and May 5, those wanting to cast their ballots can visit the justice building from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
