Editor, Times-Union: Last Saturday morning, around 5:30 a.m., I noticed our bedroom was lighter than usual. I rolled over, and looking through the window, I noticed a full bright moon lighting up the sky and our bedroom. I thanked God for His past mercies on our country and our lives and for the neighbor across the street who has provided delicious meals for us while my wife was recovering from health problems. I, too, thanked God for the doctor in this community that removed cataracts from my eyes and the beautiful fall colors I can now see again. As I was meditating on these things, the moon disappeared behind the curtains and it was all dark again. Suddenly, another scene flashed through my mind totally different than what I had been medicating on before. Now I’m watching the Democratic National Convention, and people are angrily expressing their platform of their opposition against having God in government. A man with a gavel hits the podium and confirms the yea’s have it, that God will continue to be a part of our government. The opposition continues to shout even louder. While I will agree with the opposition in this scene, it does remind me that people have a choice. They can either accept God or reject Him. Humans have a free will to choice, but we must realize that there are consequences to our choices. In the political world there are also choices we can make and consequences to those choices. A well-known and respected spiritual leader in our nation has recently written a letter to the nation urging them to consider their choices and get out and vote. I would strongly encourage everyone to read the message from Rev. Billy Graham on page 8A of the Wednesday edition of the Times-Union or at http//action.afa.net/uploadedFiles/Activism/National_Activism/grahamad.pdf Please take a few minutes to meditate on the choices you will make on Nov. 6 and think about the consequences of your vote.
