Voter Registration Ends Monday

Posted

The primary election is May 2 and voters in Kosciusko County will send a number of candidates on to the general election in November.

Voter registration ends Monday. Monday also is the first day to cast an absentee ballot in the county clerk's office.

Citizens cannot register to vote and vote an absentee ballot the same day. Newly registered individuals must receive a voter acknowledgement card in the mail prior to casting an absentee vote.

If voting absentee at the clerk's office or in person at the polls, voters must have an identification card with a photograph of the voter. The photo ID must include a date of birth and an expiration date.

The absentee office will be open Monday through Friday, beginning Monday, through April 28, 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4:30 p.m.

The absentee office and the clerks' office will be closed April 14 for Good Friday. Voters may vote absentee on Saturdays, April 22 and 29. The last day to vote absentee in the clerk's office is by noon May 1. Mailed-in absentee ballots must be received at the clerk's office by noon May 2 to be counted.

Several polling places have changed this year to comply with handicapped-accessible regulation.

A list of polling places is available on the Net at: www.kcgov.com
