Vote Wisely

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:
A couple of years ago we were faced with a similar choice. Vote for the radical Richard Mourdock or vote for (gasp) the democrat, Joe Donnelly. Even though I would have preferred Richard Lugar, I have to say for the most part, Mr. Donnelly has kept the needs of his district at the front of his agenda and his political bias in check.
Now a similar choice faces us. We have the radical Nisly, an individual who refuses to debate lest he let people know where he really stands. Not a true conservative but an ideological pretender that is willing to snub his nose at the constitution and push for Indiana to secede from the union. Yes, Nisly even had a link to the petition to secede on his website and he signed the petition.
Nisly claims to be for less government, but apparently that only applies to those items he doesn’t agree with. Nisly and his wife (the chairman of the Republican party in Elkhart county) think it is perfectly OK for the public to pay for a website that they can use for their own personal gain. Is that “less” government?
So our choice is this: David Kolbe, a pro-life, Christian, conservative Democrat who is willing to debate the issues and tell us where he stands, or Nisly, a pretend conservative, who refuses to debate, fearful that like Richard Mourdock, people will abandon his personal crusade when they know his “true” heart.
Richard Mourdock or Joe Donnelly, Curt Nisly or David Kolbe, different race, different time, same choice. Choose wisely, don’t vote Nisly.
