Editor, Times-Union: Christian, what do you believe? Do you know why you believe what you believe? Do you believe that you are made in the image of your creator, God? That is the crux of all Christianity. Do you let this belief (that you are made in the image of God) mold every decision you make? Are you being transformed by the renewing of your mind? Are you striving not to conform to the patterns of this world? If so, “then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is, his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
It is not God’s will to continue to see our nation and our nation’s churches be demoralized by sin. God created the nations of this world and he has ordained the various governments. It is not God’s will to have the leaders of these governments endorsing and publicly supporting immoral laws such as legalized abortion, legalized homosexual marriage, and the taking away of the freedom of religion and conscience. Government is not and cannot be the answer to the national and international problems we face today, but government can be a tool in the hands of God and it is our duty as Christians to know what we believe, why we believe it and then to vote according to our beliefs. As Christians we need to put all party and politics aside and we need to vote according to our deeply held biblical worldview which must be that we are created in the image of our creator, God, and are to live according to his standards which he established for our own good and for our freedom.
I would like to share with you some stats in regard to Christians and voting in the U.S. There are an estimated 60 million Christians in the U.S. and only about 30 million vote in any given election. During the general election in 2008 in the state of Missouri there was a voting margin between the two candidates of 3,903. Unregistered Christians in Missouri: 102,522. Take a look at North Carolina for the same election with a voting margin between the two candidates of 14,177. Unregistered Christians in North Carolina: 281,212.
Our Indiana primary is coming up on Tuesday, May 8. It is too late to register to vote for the primary at this time; however, you can still register to vote for the November general election. You can now register to vote online or you can go to the BMV and register. Here is a link to registering online: https://registertovote.org/forms/register/registration/indiana.html
