Editor, Times-Union:
I am no longer a resident of Kosciusko County, but after spending more than 30 years there, I still care deeply about the community and the people who make it such a special place to call home. I also have tremendous respect and trust for Don Wiesehan, which is why I want to see him elected and why I believe he is uniquely suited to serve with integrity and purpose.
People should not make careers out of politics, because doing so often distances them from the very individuals they are meant to represent. Don has been clear that he has no desire to become a lifetime politician and has committed to holding himself to a two‑term limit. This commitment reflects not only humility, but also a genuine understanding of what public service should look like.
While lifetime politicians at the national and state levels receive constant scrutiny, it is our local government that has the most immediate and direct impact on our daily lives. Don’s support for term limits reflects his belief that communities benefit from fresh perspectives, renewed energy and new representation. Term limits help prevent stagnation and ensure elected officials remain focused, engaged and accountable. Don’s stance shows he is putting the community before himself and prioritizing the long‑term health of local leadership.
On May 5th, the citizens of Kosciusko County should cast their ballots for someone who will always protect the people they are elected to serve. I have complete confidence that Don will consistently stand up for what is right, even when others may waver, or when doing so may not be the easiest path.
For those who value integrity, transparency, honesty, and accountability in their elected officials, Don embodies all of these qualities. I know that every decision he makes will be thoughtful, deliberate, and rooted in what best represents his constituents' beliefs, not simply going along with the majority or choosing convenience over principle.
Don is one of the truest leaders I know. He leads by example and carries himself with a level of integrity and honesty that is difficult to put into words. I cannot think of a better person to serve this community or someone more committed to doing what is right, even when no one is watching.
A vote for Don will bring greater transparency to the commissioner’s office through increased community involvement and a stronger presence within the departments the county oversees. His leadership encourages collaboration, communication, and accountability.
As a lifelong resident of Kosciusko County, Don has said, “My life is rooted here, and I will always protect this community.” I have never doubted that. His long history of involvement across many areas makes him an ideal choice to represent Kosciusko County, not only for today, but for the future in mind.
With a servant’s heart and proven character, I believe Don Wiesehan is the best choice.
