Volunteerism's Double-Edged Benefits

Posted

BY RUTH ANNE LIPKA,Times-Union Staff Writer

Each week, the Times-Union prints a "wish list" for Volunteer Community Services.

The list provides a sampling of the needs that can be fulfilled by volunteers in Kosciusko County. Normally, the list appears in the second section on Tuesdays. However, since April 13-19 is National Volunteer Week, the item has been pulled to the front for a little extra attention.

Following is this week's installment of volunteer needs. Look for it each week with the familiar "Someone Needs You" logo.

• Cardinal Center: Need assistance with adult clients in group homes.

• CASA: Spring training session will be held the end of April - 25 hours of training required and a flexible schedule to become a Court-Appointed Special Advocate for children. Be a voice for a child.

• Indiana Lakeland Girl Scouts: Leaders and assistants needed at various elementary schools in the area.

• Lakeland Community Daycare: Volunteers needed to rock babies. Also needed are people to read to children.

• Miller's Merry Manor (Warsaw): Volunteers needed to read to residents.

• Warsaw Parks Department: Help needed with various Earth Day activities, April 19 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
