Certificates that list students' technical achievement and skills will soon be used for several vocational education programs at Warsaw Community High School, the school board learned Monday.
Chuck DeFord, assistant principal at WCHS, said after a vocational education student completes a program, the student will be given a certificate verifying the program completion and listing essential skills learned.
The certificates are available now in the machine tool area, and will be used soon in business, family and consumer sciences and emergency medical technician courses, DeFord said.
Next week is vocational education week in Indiana, he said, and approximately 600 students are currently enrolled in vocational ed classes at WCHS.
The school board approved a request by business manager Rande Thorpe to establish a cash management system with Lake City Bank. The school corporation will deposit all of its funds with LCB and in return will earn a higher interest rate. The interest rate and bank fees will be contractually determined.
