NORTH MANCHESTER - Vivian Irene Walther, 91, of North Manchester, died at 3:10 p.m. Aug. 30, 2009, in Timbercrest Healthcare Center, North Manchester.
She was born Sept. 16, 1917, in North Creek, Putnam County, Ohio, to John and Eva Schafer Brecht. On Jan. 30, 1938, she married Maurice C. Walther, who died Dec. 5, 1999.
She and her husband founded Walther Insurance Agency, Silver Lake, in 1959. They retired from the insurance business in 1984. She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Manchester. She graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1936. She was a 50-year member and past worthy matron of Ivy Chapter 69 Order of Eastern Star, North Manchester; past grand representative of Indiana Grand Chapter of Order of Eastern Star; and a retired member of Psi-Iota-Xi, North Manchester.
Surviving are a daughter, Linda (and spouse Leonard) Pyle, Silver Lake; a sister, Dorothy Freeman, North Manchester; and three grandsons, Jeffrey (and spouse Beth) Pyle and Kirk (and spouse Jennie) Pyle, all of North Manchester, and Michael (and spouse Cindy) Pyle, Silver Lake; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Timbercrest Chapel, 2201 East St., North Manchester, with Pastor Kurt Stoute and Deaconess Sabine Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.
Calling is from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, and one hour prior to the service Thursday at Timbercrest Chapel.
