MENTONE - Bell Museum, Mentone, recently had some visitors fly in.
Fred Wright, Middlebury, and Steve Johnson, Goshen, flew Wright's Enstrom helicopter to the heliport at the museum. Johnson is a certified flight instructor and wanted to share the museum with his friend.
The museum is open to visitors by appointment during the winter months, and beginning June 6 will be open Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m. during the summer, as well as by appointment.
Several projects have been completed this past season and improvements have been made. Restoration of the 47-H helicopter to represent Bell's personal helicopter has been completed, and the 47-G helicopter is near completion.
Mentone Days is coming up, and a committee is working on a food stand that will serve sandwiches, pie and ice cream all day June 4 at the big tent.
During the summer, bus tours also are being planned as part of the Kosciusko County tourism. Tours also will be given during the Roto Craft Convention.
The museum is sponsoring some trips. The first one is to Washington, D.C. Then there will be a trip to French Lick, Church Hills Down and Bradstown. The third trip will be Christmas shopping in Chicago for the day.During summer 2011, a trip through Canada is being offered by train. Reservations are being taken for the trip.
