Visit The Pre-1880s Era Feb. 14-15 In Pierceton

PIERCETON - The third annual Pierceton Living History Fair will be at the newly renovated Old Train Depot in Pierceton February 14-15.

The fair is sponsored by the Pierceton Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Kosciusko County Convention & Visitors Bureau.Reenactors will be on hand to demonstrate and sell wares from the pre-1880s era. All reenactors will be in period costume, bringing authentic and reproduction items for show and sale. Items to be displayed and sold include clothing, jewelry, beads, wooden toys and boxes, wooden spoons and carvings, tin, leather goods, blacksmith items and muzzle loaders. Local artist Robert Hudson will offer original oil paintings, postcards and note cards of pre-1880 subjects.

Some local living history groups will present information on upcoming events including Back to the Days of Kosciuszko, the SCA, the 44th Indiana Civil War Group and the Old Fort in Fort Wayne.

An old-time photography booth will "take your picture as a pirate" for a small fee.

Food will be provided by Classic Catering of Pierceton.

Townsend and Son, also of Pierceton, will hold their annual sale the same weekend. Townsends produces fine period replicas for reenactors and movie productions, some of which have appeared in a number of Hollywood movies, including Disney's "Pirates of the Caribbean."

Saturday hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday hours are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Old Train Depot is in the center of downtown Pierceton on the corner of Market Street and Ind. 13.

Admission is $3 for adults, $1 for children 7-12, children 6 and under are free.
