Virginia C. “Ginnie” Fretz, 71, Winona Lake, passed away at 4:20 a.m. Dec. 29, 2015, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw. She was born June 20, 1944, in Minnie, Ky., to Taylor R. and Dorothy V. Miles Horne. On June 11, 1978, in Bourbon, she was united in marriage to Phillip Fretz, who survives in Winona Lake. She moved from Kentucky to Kenton, Ohio, in 1964 then to Winona Lake in 1981. She graduated from American School, Chicago, Ill., and attended IPFW for four years. She was a qualified medication aide, certified nurse’s assistant and housekeeper for years at Prairie View Nursing Home, Grace Village Health Care, Miller’s Merry Manor and Mason Health and Rehabilitation Center, all of Warsaw. She retired in 1991 with a total of 40 years. She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Warsaw. She loved her cats, collecting dolls, an avid NASCAR fan, genealogy and going to the Grand Olé Opry. Also surviving are five sisters: Peggy Sue Worsham and Cora Annette Horne, both of Warsaw; Vickie (and spouse Kenneth Sr.) Fulford, Martinsville; Sandra Lue (and spouse Ruben) Hicks, Kendallville; and Lois Eichelberger, Warsaw; a brother, Jimmy D. Horne, Warsaw; a special friend, Karen (and spouse Stephen) Frantz, Warsaw; several nieces and nephews; and her precious cat, “Katie.” She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Taylor “Tom” Horne Jr.; and four sisters: Patricia Copland, Sharon Kay, Margi Ellen and Barb Horne. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with the Rev. Jack Worth officiating. Burial will be in Summit Chapel Cemetery, Bourbon.
