Posted
Virginia Allen Slone, 83, of Mason Health & Rehab, Warsaw, and formerly of 927 E. Clark St., Warsaw, went home to be with her Lord Jesus at 2:37 a.m. April 4, 2010.

She was born May 30, 1926, in Floyd County, Ky., to John and Judy Poe Slone. On Sept. 14, 1946, in Pikeville, Ky., she married Chris Allen, who died Aug. 24, 1959.

She loved time with family and friends, attending church when she was able, always giving or trying to help someone and sewing quilts and whatever before her sickness. She was grandma to so many she met, and a blessing to many she came in contact with, or met along the way. She loved those at Mason's. They became like her family and as she'd say (my friends).

She leaves behind a daughter, Judy Allen (and spouse Charles) Pennington, Warsaw; four sons: John (and spouse Robin) Allen, Ohio; Chris (and spouse Peggy) Allen, Leesburg; Henry (and spouse Tanya) Allen, Tennessee; and Bucky Slone, Warsaw; a stepson, Harvey (and spouse Linda) Allen, Pierceton; a sister, Daisy Slone, Burket; two brothers, Isom (and spouse Phyllis) Slone, Warsaw, and Clifford (and spouse April Baxter) Slone, Burket; 14 grandchildren: Jr. (and spouse Deb) Pennington, Winona Lake; John (and spouse Allie) Pennington, Texas; Christy (and spouse Blayne) Woodcock, Chris Jr. (and spouse Sherry) Allen, Billy Music, John Slone and Jennifer (and spouse Lester) Miller, all of Warsaw; Tim (and spouse Jenny) Pennington, Bristol; Jake (and spouse Marie) Pennington, Florida; Missy (and spouse Todd) Cornett, Mentone; Brian (and spouse Jennifer), Tyler (and spouse Amber) and Seth (and spouse Deb) Allen, all of Ohio; and Deborah Allen, Pierceton; 19 great-grandchildren, Zachary, Joshua and Breanna Woodcock, all of Warsaw; Lori Pennington, Winona Lake; Addison and Presley Pennington and Colin Shrock, all of Bristol; Azalea and Kyelee Pennington, both of Fort Wayne; Jonathan Pennington and Nathan Totten, both of Texas; Chrissy and Michael Pozorski and Todd Jr., Brittney and Tiffany Cornett, all of Mentone; Billy Music III, Ohio; and Kimmy Music and Aiden Miller, both of Warsaw; many special friends; several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Pat Wallen, Warsaw, who helped her Aunt Virginia before her going in Mason's. She was preceded in death by her precious parents; a granddaughter at birth, Rochelle Genevieve Allen; a sister, Betty Adair; and six brothers, Joe, Clyde, Henry, Lonzo, Robert and Monroe Slone.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at God's Highway To Heaven Church, Warsaw, with Pastor Bob Brown officiating. Burial will be in Center Cemetery, Atwood.

Calling is from 5 p.m. until the time of service Thursday at the church with a church service at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening.
