Virgil E. Wise, 89, of Warsaw, died at 8:15 a.m. Jan. 28, 2012, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw.
On Aug. 20, 1922, he was born to Merl and Eva Ebersole Wise, Warsaw. On July 7, 1946, in Greenwood, he married Jewel A. Davis, who died Jan. 8, 2006.
He was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County and served in the U.S. Army during World War II, European Theater from 1942 to 1946. He was with the 9th Army Heavy Artillery as a forward observer.
He was the former owner of Southside Repair Shop in Atwood. He was past president and 50-year charter member of the Atwood Lions Club and a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 49 and VFW Post 1126, Warsaw. He was also a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Atwood.
He is survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister and three brothers.
There will be a private graveside service at Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton, with military honors by the American Legion Post 49, VFW 1126 and the ARNG, with Pastor Stormy Scherer-Berry officiating.
