VIP Night Kicks Off Annual Homes On Parade

Builders, suppliers and everyone who had a hand in this year's Homes on Parade at Barrington Hills Phase II were recognized and thanked during VIP night Thursday.

Reigning Miss Indiana Nicole Rash opened the VIP night "Royal Celebration" ceremony by singing the national anthem. Then Joni Truex, executive director of the Builders Association of Kosciusko-Fulton Counties, welcomed everyone to the 22nd Homes on Parade VIP Night, thanked the board of directors, and introduced Builder's Association President Wendell Miller.

"A lot of hard work goes into this event," Miller said.

Then he thanked VIP night sponsors First Federal Savings Bank of Rochester and Kosciusko REMC.

After recognizing VIP Night sponsors, Miller introduced the developers of the Barrington Hills subdivision, Joe and Karin Hamilton.

"Barrington Hills was named after a northwest subdivision in Chicago where I grew up," Joe Hamilton said. "It is a beautiful place with custom homes. I liked it so much, I decided to bring it to Warsaw."

When finished, Barrington Hills subdivision will total 132 acres with 122 building sites and more than two miles of sidewalks. It will feature a 50-acre woods, a two-acre park with a "B" shaped 940-square foot inground pool and a poolhouse with showers and restrooms. Amenities at the development include underground utilities, a covered bus stop area for children, and high-speed Internet.

According to Miller, 16 builders qualified to participate in this fall's Parade of Homes, and "seven chose to build in the parade, with one (Coplen Construction) completing two homes."

The builders of the eight homes in the parade this fall are: Coplen Construction, TL Jackson Construction Inc., Renewal Homes LLC, Miller Brothers Builders Inc., Skyline Builders, Signature Building & Design and Willie's Oakbrook Homes.

Catering was by Bogey's Steakhouse, and princesses representing each home greeted guests as they arrived at the parade and as they entered the homes as well.

Combinations of carpet and ceramic tile floor coverings are common in most of the homes. One home has a built-in water feature in one wall, and some of the homes have see-through fireplaces.

Look for:

n Large, live-in lower levels, with everything from a slide between the levels to home theater areas, kitchens and bedrooms in the large, finished areas.

n Heavier, overstuffed furniture and large, comfortable looking beds.

Photographic renderings of the homes and floor plans were contained in a special section in Thursday's Times-Union.

This parade runs Saturday through Sept. 16, and is open from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 1 to 8 p.m. Saturdays and 1 to 6 p.m. Sundays. Admission is $5 for ages 13 and over, ages 6-12 are $1, and children under age 6 are free.
