Violet Wagner, 85, of 4617 Johnson Ave., Hammond, died at 7:15 p.m. April 8, 2007, in her daughter's residence in Warsaw.
She was born Nov. 17, 1921, in Gary, to Konstantine and Josephine Remkus Sweikauski. On July 7, 1943, in Seattle, Wash., she married William "Ben" Wagner, who survives.
A lifetime Hammond resident, she was a printer and deliverer at Calumet Blue Print Co. for 20-25 years. She was a member of St. Casmir's Catholic Church and American Legion Post 168 Women's Auxiliary, both in Hammond. She built B29 bombers during World War II and was a "Rosie Riveter" at Boeing Air Craft.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Dr. Kenneth (Bonnie) Lee, Warsaw; two sons, Ben (and wife Debbie) Wagner, Gobles, Mich., and Larry (and wife Karen) Wagner, Merrillville; a sister, Helen O'Hara, Omaha, Neb.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Town and Country Christian Church, Crown Point, with Pastor Mike Farar officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
Calling is from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the church.
