Viola ‘JoAnn’ SaylorCOLUMBIA CITY – Viola “JoAnn” Saylor, 93, previously of New Paris, passed away Oct. 31, 2022, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Columbia City, where she had lived for five years.
She was born on July 4, 1929, in Elkhart County, to Joseph and Freda Cart Hower.
On Oct. 21, 1948, she married Richard Saylor in Lakeville. He preceded her in death on Aug. 1, 2007.
JoAnn is survived by her son, Kirby Saylor, Warsaw; two grandchildren, Jennifer Gerding, Columbia City; Jeremiah Saylor, Warsaw; and two great-grandchildren, Kierston Clark and Andrew Gerding.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Rick Saylor; and a sister, Louise Enyardt.
JoAnn took great pride in being a homemaker, she was also involved in her community by being a Cub Scout leader and being on the PTO in LaPorte.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, Nov. 4 at 2:30 p.m. at New Paris Cemetery. Family friend Ron Chance will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
