Vikings Edge Squires In TRC PlayNORTH MANCHESTER – Visiting Tippecanoe Valley won both doubles matches and at No. 3 singles to take a 3-2 win over host Manchester in Three Rivers Conference boys tennis Thursday.
After dropping a first set tiebreaker and winning a second set the same way, Russ Paxton and Ethan Hartman won the match for the Vikings with a 6-7 (7-1), 7-6 (8-6), 6-2 win over the Squires’ Justin Hall and Isaac Reichenbach at No. 1 doubles.
In the No. 2 doubles match, Cooper Walls and Annakin Pettit won 7-6, 6-0 over Manchester’s Sam Hupp and Korbin Hensley.
The Vikings’ Owen Kirchenstein won a marathon match at No. 3 singles, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 over Ethan Espeset.
Manchester’s Brady Wiley won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 singles over Payton Mills, and Quinn Martin won at No. 2 singles for the Squires, 6-0, 6-1 over Dylan Neese.
Manchester will play in the Peru Sectional, and Tippecanoe Valley in the Warsaw Sectional, with both postseason tournaments having their draws on Monday and beginning play on Wednesday.
