Vietnam POW

At the risk of losing the few friends I have around my hometown where I was born, I wish to vent.

A recently published book showed convincing proof that there were still more than 200 U.S.prisoners of war in slave labor captivity in Vietnam. But when I bring it up with veterans, they either don't respond or just shrug their shoulders.

Now I didn't serve in Vietnam, but living a few blocks from Camp Pendleton Marine base in California for more than three decades I heard all the dirty little secrets when the men came back to the U.S.

U.S. Corporations are now building billion-dollar manufacturing plants in Vietnam. Not only shipping jobs out, but possibly building the plants not too far from American POWs who are still enslaved.

The other night the American Legion had a fundraiser to help indigent or low-income veterans have a low-cost plot for burial. I expected a full house, but only a handful of people showed up. Now we are sending more Indiana troops to Iraq wrongly thinking they are safe guarding America. The sad thing is their parents and their churches are promoting this blood letting.

I know what the response will be from the chicken hawks. I say you have been sold out again in the name of false patriotism.

I thought after Vietnam Americans would have gotten the message, but I was wrong.
